Chugga Chug

Its been a while since I’ve picked up a book around here but this week I was in the mood for an audiobook to listen to while I worked on they sleeves of Chalkstone. They are plain stockinette and the perfect companion to an audio book.

I chose The Knife Of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness. I knew nothing about it other than A Playful Day Podcast was reading it with her listeners in her ravelry group. So I downloaded it from my local library and started to listen.

I must admit I wasn’t sure if I was going to continue with it at first…. talking dogs and “The Noise” were all a little weird to begin with but I gave it a fair shot and I’m really starting to get into it.

Apparently it’s a series but I’ve gotta get through number one first!

As I said before I’m working on the sleeves of Chalkstone. I’m a little worried about running out of yarn for this and being a bottom up sweater doesn’t help me out any in figuring out if I have enough. I’ve opted for 3/4 Ā length sleeves and I think I’m really going to like it this way. Once I get the sleeves attached I’ll be able to see if I have the yardage to finish.

Fingers Crossed!

Read any must read books lately??

  1. I really loved the Knife of Never Letting Go and got hooked on the whole trilogy. I can imagine it might be strange or really awesome as an audiobook, though, since so much of it relies on things you “hear.” You can tune out some of the Noise when reading from the printed page, though.

  2. Chalkstone is the perfect color for summertime, so fresh, so cool visually. Hoping here that you have enough to finish…you could always make it short sleeves I suppose, which would be super stunning on you anyway.

  3. The color is lovely! I hope you have enough to finish! I haven’t heard of “The Knife of Never Letting Go” – I’ll have to check it out. I’m always on the lookout for new books.

  4. I like that you review books, especially them being short but succinct reviews. I’d like to read more but books affect me too much (I was feeling really blue for quite a while after Jane Eyre…)

  5. I haven’t read ‘Knife of Never Letting Go’ but it circulates well and is on my ‘to read’ list. My YA blogger friends refuse to believe I haven’t read it yet. Currently, I’m reading ‘Thumped’ by Megan Mcafferty. It is the second in her series (the first is ‘Bumped’) and it is about a future where girls are encouraged to become pregnant in their teens and sell their offspring. It’s an interesting look at teen pregnancy and media, very readable, but I hesitate to say ‘enjoyable’ if that makes sense?

  6. The lace on Chalkstone looks lovely. I listened to a set of short stories (Classic Irish Short Stories) over the past month – also downloaded from our local library.
