New Years Socks

Pattern: On the run by Anni Design
Yarn: Skacel Trampoline Stretch
Needles: U.S. 2 dpns
Start Date: January 2008
Finish Date: December 21st 2008
Did it really take a whole year for me to make a pair socks??
Maybe it was the fact that I wasn’t very fond of the yarn. I’m not a fan of elasticated yarns!
Maybe it was because I misplaced the second ball of yarn and didn’t find it until a few months after the first sock was complete.
OR
Maybe it was because the yarn and pattern just didn’t do it for me. The yarn completely hides any sign of a pattern at all!

Whatever the case may be they are finally finished and even though they aren’t my favourite socks they are socks non the less and will keep my feet nice and warm during these next few months.
Everytime I look at these socks I think of a Kindergarten or Elementary school classroom. I think those primary colours would have been better suited for a child’s pair of socks but they are what they are. I do have some yarn left over that would make a cute pair of baby socks or toes and heels of a pair of children’s socks.

I’ve always had trouble with second so mojo seems to run dry by the time I bind off the toe with no desire to cast on and do it all over it again. This pair was no exception but I knew it had to be done so a plugged through, not giving myself time to think or dream of future knits and focus on the sock ahead of me. It worked! The second sock was knit in record time, in just two days it was on and off the needles.
If only every pair of socks were like that!

Good for you for getting them done. I’m bad about procrastinating on projects that don’t thrill me. I especially like the first photo outside on the blockers, it’s very festive.
Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Wow, a sock in two days! Admittedly I knitted about four pairs in 10 days when we moved to California…
You might not be crazy about the yarn but in a long dark winter they are chirpy!
Merry Christmas/holiday of choice!

“Kindergarten or Elementary school”, I can totally see why they make you think of that. All the same, they look great!
Jon and I aren’t exchanging gifts this year (can’t afford it), but I sneakingly knit him a thick black Cascade 220 wool hat and just finished it last night while he was at boxing. It was a last minute idea!

Congratulations on getting them done! They’re so cheerful, perfect for Christmas really. (though I know what you mean about elastic yarn, I hate it too!)
I hope you’re having a lovely, warm Christmas. All the best for 2009 my dear!

Today I was cleaning up my craft room for my parents to come visit and I found a whole tub of half finished pairs of socks, at least 5 socks waiting to be finished. All of them are at least 2 years old, most even older. One pair looks similar to these.
Lovely projects as of late, I love that pumpkin colored cabled blanket.

Cheers!

Love the socks. I also completely adore that throw! I’ve done a few Lion Brand patterns and have not made friends with any of them (I may TRY to make friends with that throw pattern, however)

The socks are great. Have you tried two socks at once, on circs? I want to at least try that method in the coming new year (haven’t learned yet). I have a DVD on how to do this, and got the needles recently…and Lord knows I have sock yarn out the zing zang…I just need to learn the method, lol.
