                    Needles: 10 US

This sweater was picked up and put down so many times I don’t think it knew where it was. I was just cruising along, had almost the whole thing completed in less than a month when things came to an abrupt stop. I didn’t have enough yarn as I had modified the pattern to have full length sleeves instead of 3/4 length. A quick call to Katherine and the yarn was on the way the very next day. I don’t know how I got so distracted with other things but it lay in my WIP basket for a long time. Then with house reno’s and moving the basket and sweater ended up just moving locations. Finally I knit the sleeves and had them all ready to sew on when I realized that my increase stitches were all on the last stitch of the sides of the sleeves therefore making my sewn up edges wonky. I had a big mound of extra stitches on the inside of my sleeves. *Remember this was my first sweater* So back in the basket it went, I was sooo ticked off at it by this time and just wanted it DONE!!! Roll forward to the new year, decisions to clean out the WIP Basket and start off the year somewhat fresh. The sweater had been in the back of my mind all the while and finally one day mum and dad were here and I asked her if she would help me unravel the sleeves so I could start knitting them again. That day I cast on for the first one again, I used fewer stitches this time as I found them to be baggy compared to the body of the sweater. I kept my mind on that sweater and that sweater only until I had the two sleeves done. Last thing to do was sew the sleeves on. Holding my breath I sewed the sleeves and set straight to blocking. A few days later I finally tried it on……… TOOO SHORT!!!!!! AFTER ALL THAT THE FREAKING BODY WAS TOO SHORT! ARRGGHHHH! I threw it in the corner in a huff! I talked to mum and it wasn’t until she suggested I soak it and hang it on a hanger to length it that I actually brought it out again.

Well it was mum to the rescue because the hanger trick added a few inches to it and its now perrrrrrfect!!! Thanks Mum!

                           

                           

Disappointment and Ecstatic Excitement!!!

Holy crap WHERE DO I START??????

Well lets start with…..

The Disappointment: The house we were all set to buy failed the water test miserably so we have decided to go no further with it. We now have on month to find a place to live :(

The Estatic Excitement : Upon finding out that the house was a no go, Moose hopped back on MLS to see if there was anything new on the market that we hadn’t yet looked at. Welllllllllllll there just so happened to be a house with 30 acres in the area we had orginally been looking for land in. The pictures didn’t really do it for us but we thought hey 30 acres of land is a nice little chunkie we may as well go have a look. I got home from work and off we went straight away to see it.  It’s set in a pretty secluded area *obviously when its on 30 acres huh*, back off the road, fantastic view of the valley, its 1000 ft elevation up there, its just altogether EXACTLY what we were looking for. The house was surprisingly VERY nice inside compared to what the pictures show. We of course will want to make it ours and put our own touches to it but right now its perfect to move into. Soooo before we left our agent we had put an offer in. It was weird cause we both walked in and BOTH said WOW I love it! We got walking around and I swear I could have moved in right then and there, all my ties to the house we just sold had been cut instantly, I’M IN LOVE!!!! I don’t want to get my hopes up just in case but HECK MY HOPES ARE ALREADY UP!!! I couldn’t even sit down to read blogs last night OR knit I was too wound up! Prayers and finger crossing and whatever else you do would REALLY be appreciated on this one, I don’t even want to think what i’ll be like if we don’t get it.

I’m sure you were wondering how Heidi got along with all that sock yarn huh!

Here she is with her favourite of the bunch, and if it wasn’t MY favourite too I probably would have given it to her but I LOVE THAT YARN! I’m waiting for a special pattern to pop up to knit it into. Although Heidi and I have only had three knitting dates so far, it is VERY safe to say that we like the EXACT same things lol Very weird but I think its good. We buy the same patterns and then find out after the fact that we both have then, we both love tweedy green yarn, and green yarn in general hahah I have no problems knitting the same patterns and picking the same yarns that just means we both have seriously good taste :) We joked about having to call each other before church to make sure we are not wearing the same thing. You can see in the picture Heidi’s first sweater, its the cabled cardi from Knit 1 spring mag 2007, when she told me she found a pattern for her first sweater I laughed and said I bought that mag for the same pattern! GO FIGURE!

Our summer time visitors are back:

I love these little guys soooo much, even though they do tear apart our garbage and leave it all over the deck. Sock seems to not mind them, she’ll sit and watch them, then paw at the window as if she wants to go out and play with them. I think really she is saying *Geez, you guys sure do look like me but from the looks of those black circles around your eyes, I think you need to get more sleep* I hope the new owners are nice to the little guys!

As you can all see, Sock has no problems catching up on her sleep. She’s found a nice mix of wool and alpaca to bed down on while I try to find out what the heck I did with my spray bottle so I can block that sucker!

I have been working on a secret knitting project, I’m about half way through and I’m loving every minute. Maybe you’ll get a sneak peak next post. I’m off to bouce around the house, hopefully I’ll hear something before I go to work!

Feeling Discombobulated

 Gah!!! When will the reno’s be done???? It seems like its never ending. The basement is now complete and we’ve moved to the upstairs. Tuesday morning was spent tearing apart the spare room, lugging all the furniture from our bedroom to the spare and then ripping up the floor in there. Have a look at what we found under the carpet in the spare room!!

 

Do you see all the brown stuff on the floor??? That’s dust/dirt believe it or not. I had to shop vac the floor the piles I swept up were that huge. I can only imagine what was in the carpet YUCK!!! Moose has been trucking along on the hardwood, with only a few more strips to put down in our room. I’ll be glad when I can find a clean pair of socks in all this mess!

I’ve been trying to post for days about my knitting during my second week of vacation and I’m finally able to get all the pics in one post. First off we have the squares I knit for the blanket of hope. The patterns don’t show up well in photo’s but we have at the top a Wavy Welt square. I used this dishcloth pattern. Underneath that we have the ballband dishcloth from Mason Dixon Knitting and to the side is one my mum knit in a double moss stitch.

Secondly is my Kolsva sweater. This sweater was a joy to knit! I’m working on the sleeve caps at the moment but need to order another skein of yarn to finish the cowl. The pattern shows 3 quarter length sleeves but I decided to knit them at full length because I’m ALWAYS freezing especially in winter so I like to be fully covered. I have the front and back blocking at the moment. When I get some time I’m gonna learn how to PROPERLY seam a sweater and then add the sleeves.

I started the Central Park Hoodie when I got back. I ordered the yarn just before we left from Webs closeout yarns. Its Skye Tweed in an awesome burnt orange colour. I’m nearing the end of sleeve two.

So obviously I’ve fallen off the wagon for not knitting more than one pattern at once. I can’t help it and the urge to start more is becoming stronger and stronger every day. I’ve gone ahead and ordered this with some birthday money. I’m crazy about the ripple blankets that are showing up everywhere. I’ll be joining the ripple along once I get the book in my hands. Check out Posie’s!! Then there are also Monkies that are calling and what legs could resist THESE!!!

SO MUCH KNITTING SO LITTLE TIME!!!
